Things To Think About Podcast Trancript

Waves

Intro:  Pounding bass note and a stirring fanfare of horns. Welcome to another edition of Things To Think About. Here's Stacy. The horns continue with a keyboard note held.

Relaxing piano music is in the background. Welcome to the Things To Think About Podcast where we use fables and fairy tales to come to deeper truths about our subconscious world. I’m Stacy Casson and today’s tale explores our expectations. We will dive into this topic in a tale Icall, Waves. And now, get comfortable and relax. Take a Deep Breathe in and exhale. A Deep Breath in, and exhale. A Deep breath in and exhale. And if you'd  like, you can slowly...close...your eyes.

Once upon a time, two lovers met at the appointed time. They exchanged two words and vanished until it was the next time. Even when they did not like each other, the ritual was observed. Sometimes one would find a handwritten message, other times an echo in a shell. The words were always the same. Their feelings were not always the same. For a time they did not use words, but the ritual was nonetheless honored. Until it was not.

Internal and external forces always threatened to pull them apart. They were born at the wrong time and met when it was too late for them.  They were waves crashing against each other. When they were in sync, they brought out the best in each other. When they were out of sync, they flatlined, destroying each other. Most times they operated on different phases which helped in some areas and caused friction in others. They never knew how the meetings would go at the appointed times.

Their last meeting went well. They met at the appointed time and exchanged the two words. They were comfortable and not concerned with showing off. This was a moment in sync and they enjoyed traveling on the surface. Once again they parted ways until the next meeting. They were enjoying constructive interaction and experienced wonderful growth and insight during their time apart.

The appointed time came. The sacred words were not exchanged. One lover spoke of challenges. The other was compassionate as they waited to hear the words. The words never came.   More interference. Words clashed until they canceled each other out. The cycle was broken. One lover waited and waited to hear the words. They built a boat and sailed off to find new lands. The other lover did not hear the gentle splash as the boat set sail. What will happen at the next appointed time?

What happens when you outgrow a relationship? Are you afraid to rock the boat? Do you value nostalgia over novelty? When does a season end? And now, you can take a deep breath in and exhale. A deep breath in and exhale. Deep breath in, and exhale. And when you're ready, wiggle your toes, wiggle your fingers, and slowly open your eyes.
