It’s time for an accountability check-in. I did my five-minute tasks every day last week and found $3.97 in loose change. 😊 I had a great body doubling session with a friend, allowing us to decompress and get things done. I did do the portrait, and I liked how the cheeks came out because that is an area I struggle with when doing portraits. What were your wins for the week?
This week, I’m continuing with THE LINEAGES OF CHANGE TAROT, Copyright © Lineages of Change (Adrienne maree brown, LLC; Alta Starr; chelsea cleveland; and Krista Franklin).

What am I doing? I was spending time with my sister, and she asked me why I had agreed to do something. Was it something I wanted to do, or just a habit of saying yes? I have been noticing that I operate on autopilot and muscle memory. For example, I was going to my Mom’s, but when I got on the turnpike, I took the route for work, which was the opposite direction. Even breakfast this morning, was I hungry, or was this the time I usually eat breakfast? This exchange prompted our first question, and the Five of Earth highlights a scarcity mindset. Many of my everyday habits come out of fear and a scarcity mindset. It’s hard to declutter because “I may need this someday.” I am never going to make a clock. I don’t use clocks since I have a phone. Shout out to theminiinsights.coach on Instagram for her post, “Caribbean People Who Hoard” which inspired my first five-minute task. What are the underlying stories and habits that influence your choices? Are you aware of your why?
“Why is this a challenge?” The Two of Water reversed has come up many times this week, reminding me about connection and self-love. I’ve been watching a video on YouTube by The Queen Po, where she discussed a road opening ritual. When trying to find a way to our goals, we need to remove obstacles. Some situations and people in our lives are habits and are not intentional. We make the same poor choices from muscle memory. This disconnects us from ourselves and our relationship with others. Our mindset and scarcity thinking prevent us from dreaming and taking action on a different route. We think that accomplishing our goals is a dream. I am learning that I choose the comfort of others instead of myself. I can’t connect to others if I am disconnected from myself. Do you need to take a new route?
How does this impact my community? I also attended many of the sessions at The Future of DEI Summit (You can purchase your replay pass here: The Future of DEI Virtual Summit), and one of the talks was about building communities. It's easy to forget the impact when we try to accomplish a goal. What does it cost your people of your time when you are building? What is the impact of achieving your goal? Who benefits? We are seeing the destruction of a hoarding mindset around the world. The Temperance card reminds us of balance. Some days you may need to pull an all-nighter. Equally important is to build in rest. I am decluttering, but also cognizant that whatever is not repurposed results in waste.
What is a way forward? We get the 3 of Air. This card is typically associated with betrayal in traditional tarot. How do our thoughts impact our choices? How many times have you betrayed yourself? Is it a habit? A pattern? Do you deprive your community of your gifts because you assume you will fail? What would lighten your load and your heart? I have more questions than answers. Asking better questions help us to understand our choices and situation. What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Namaste

One on the roof and two at each corner of the base. Temperance is a collage of a woman, plants, and insects against a blue background. The Three of Air depicts a Black woman in billowing blue material wearing lace-up knee-high boots running, floating above the water. There is a glass globe with flowers in front.
