From Overwhelm to Action 04.05.26

The Ace of Pentacles Reversed

Hi, friends 👋🏽. I’m Stacy Casson, Chief Play Officer at Things to Think About. As a mom of five who also held a full-time job, I used to hold a PhD in creating chaos. Now, I help other busy, overwhelmed parents learn to wrangle it in. I discovered that by applying organizational principles through play, I could reduce my mental load, stop the nagging, and finally move from overwhelm to action. You set the tone for your kids, and I can help you set a calm one. Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. Let’s get started.

Celebrate Your Wins

Pause for a moment:

What’s one thing you accomplished this week—big or small?

  • Did you finish your spring cleaning?
  • Finally started that project?
  • Hold a boundary?

Drop your win in the comments or share it with a friend!

My wins: I have been more consistent in my outreach and have successfully begun beta testing my Calm Down Sessions. I’ve also recorded another module for my upcoming group coaching session. One of the kids in the class that I substituted for wanted me to come back the next day. 🥹 The kids said I reminded them of Moana’s grandmother, lol. I was able to be there for my Mom this week. Reflecting on your wins helps to keep the momentum when you are lacking motivation.

Every week, we explore a Tarot card because Tarot is rich in symbology and helps us to tap into our intuition. Reflecting on the card and noting what comes to mind is a metaphorical form of brainstorming that can provide insights when problem-solving.

A mysterious hand emerges from a cloud holding a golden pentacle. There is a field of lilies and a hedge of roses in the background, with a floral arch that showcases some mountains.

Card of the Week: Ace of Pentacles Reversed

A mysterious hand emerges from a cloud holding a golden pentacle. There is a field of lilies and a hedge of roses in the background, with a floral arch that showcases some mountains. This card, the Ace of Pentacles Reversed, often highlights blocks around starting new behaviors. Do you feel like you're missing an opportunity because you are working on the wrong things? Are you spinning your wheels and exhausted, not getting to the things that truly matter? Do you feel that your finances, your peace, and family relations are stuck?

The Pattern It Reveals

We are often hesitant to change. Our brain wants to protect us, so we continue the same patterns, producing the same poor outcomes. This is a classic sign of being blocked. It’s time to redirect your energy. Last week, we discussed building time into your schedule to breathe. For example, taking a nap when you are tired, honoring your body. Our finances are a big cause of stress and sometimes trap us in a pattern of all work and no rest. This bleeds over to our kids, and we sometimes push them to study, study, study. As a Jamaican, I have a friend whose mom could not stand to see us just relaxing. “Oonu nuh have no homework?!” Sometimes work can be a distraction to avoid doing the hard things that move us forward.

The Question Worth Asking

Last week, we aligned with our future self. What is your hard? What’s the thing preventing you from moving forward and keeping you stuck?

One Small Experiment to Try This Week

Set a goal for yourself and write it down, preferably by hand. Now write down how a person achieving this goal would behave. Make it as vivid as possible and be sure to write it down in the present tense and make it S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.) For example, I spend thirty minutes a day for at least three days this week working on my resume. I am noticing how skilled I am and am enjoying all the callbacks and interview opportunities I am receiving. Or I enjoy meal planning with my family. Every weekend, we decide on our meals and buy only what we need. We enjoy not having to worry about what to cook and are saving money because we don’t buy impulse items.

Ready to move from overwhelm to action?

If the Ace of Pentacles Reversed resonates with you and you feel that block and the exhaustion of spinning your wheels, that’s not something you have to solve alone. The first step is getting clear on what you're avoiding. Let’s do that together.

Book a complimentary Calm Down Session with me. In this session, you can allow yourself to surrender to a peaceful moment as we get to know each other and I guide you through a brief meditation. From there, we can see how I can help you on your parenting journey. My clients often say I'm great at calming the noise of day-to-day life. Let me help you quiet yours.
