Hi 👋🏽, I’m Stacy Casson. I have over twenty years of continuous improvement experience. I’m calm in a crisis unless you are that jerk in the White Tesla who does not understand how indicators work. Get ready with me. Is your calendar packed to the gills? Are you constantly double or triple-booked? Do you groan when your alarm goes off? You don’t have to face the overwhelm alone. I write this blog to help us get ready for the week ahead. “A problem well defined is a problem half-solved.” – Dan Martell.

It is good to remind yourself of your wins. I am happy that I created an Overcome Overwhelm spread as I revamped my Playshop. I was able to redo my adventures in parking and stayed firm with my indicator and did not lose my cool. I tried something new and submitted some of my art pieces for a gallery opening. What were your wins?

This week, I’m returning to THE LINEAGES OF CHANGE TAROT, Copyright © Lineages of Change (Adrienne maree brown, LLC; Alta Starr; chelsea cleveland; and Krista Franklin) for inspiration to guide us in the week ahead. You also get a sneak peek of the new spread.

What do I think is happening? I can make snap judgements according to my kids and hold irrational grudges. I heard some news about a company and was ready to cancel my subscription. My kids asked me to take a step back. Maybe it was an isolated incident. They also mentioned that it’s one of the few places that highlights marginalized voices. So I calmed down and decided to do some more research before making judgement. The Divine Force of Fire (Reversed). This card reminds me of a mushroom cloud. I tend to go nuclear sometimes when things do not meet my expectations. This is more likely to happen when I am emotionally dysregulated because I did not build in enough downtime in my day. Do you automatically assume that people had the worst intentions? I came home hangry and dinner wasn’t ready, so I rage-cooked a frozen pizza. I didn’t enjoy it and my kid was also disappointed in the dinner they made. Not my best parenting moment. When you are overwhelmed, you are less likely to be in control of your thoughts and emotions. What can you do before you go all scorched earth?

What is actually happening? My husband used to walk around me in circles. “What are you doing?” I asked. “Well obviously, the world revolves around you.” He replied. The Seed of Fire, reminds us about curiosity. Instead of assuming the worst, I could have asked a question. What if I had asked, “When will dinner be ready?” Or even better, “Is there anything I can do to help?” Fast forward to yesterday, once again dinner was late. This time I was not hangry. I spent the time working on a jigsaw puzzle and we all enjoyed a tasty meal without people being sullen and pouty. We have to lead ourselves before we can lead others. Are you certain you have the facts or you making assumptions? You know what they say about when you assume…

What past hurt colors my view? We get The Hermit (Reversed) and it makes me think of someone who is too independent, like the little red hen. The author of this deck calls me out when she writes, “No one is served by the brittle from you take when you are well past naptime or otherwise overextended.” Are you someone who stews when they are hurting? Do you put up a façade of “fine?” I once had a boy write me a love letter on my birthday in high school. But it was a joke. On my birthday. :*( I confronted him and told him it was a mean thing to do. He said he would get a girl to beat me up and I countered that he better beat me up himself. No one beat up anyone else, but I think I have primed myself to be distrustful and therefore overly self-reliant.

What past win would help? We get the Justice card. This is about finding balance. The little girl in the picture is surrounded by sound equipment. This reminds me of all the noise around us. One of my strengths (when I am emotionally regulated) is being able to see many sides of the same issue. People often come to me for advice because I am a good listener and bring up points of view they had not considered. I was listening to a podcast where the guest was talking about having more of a collaboration with nature. When we reap the harvest, how to we replenish where we have planted? Where have I successfully taken a more balanced approach? Yesterday, I dropped of two of my kids and decided to drive around the block to give them time to move their car. Immediately, my eldest and I basked in the quiet. The had not technically been loud, but once they left, it was so peaceful. Give yourself the time to decompress before you jump into a situation. Maybe if I had sat in my car and give myself a mini transition before I came inside, I would have been more patient about the dinner situation. I can also admit when I am wrong and generally not make the same mistakes. What will you do next week to tip the scales in your favor? Namaste

Picture Descriptions: 1. The Drive Force of Fire (Reversed): Half of the card looks like a mushroom cloud and the bottom has a stem and a curvy line. It reminds me of a treble clef or an ampersand. 2. The Seed of Fire: A coppery mask with glowing light for eyes. It also has a third eye and above it a swirl on top. The ears wear dangling coil earrings and it has a triangular opening where the nose would be. The mask is empty. 3. The Hermit (Reversed): A woman sits with a book in her lap and her feet propped up and stares out into the distance. 4. Justice: A young girl wearing a white shirt with piping along the sleeves and surrounding the neckline and buttons and black pants. Her hands are out as if she is holding an imaginary scale. She is surrounded by sound equipment and a record player console.
