Hi, Subscribers. I’m changing my format slightly to be more me. What does that mean? If successful, it will feel more conversational. This blog has been through many iterations, with the one constant being using tarot cards, Pokémon cards, or random pictures as inspiration. This exercise is a fun way to prepare for the week ahead. As your guide, I believe incorporating play into your daily routine can enhance your creativity, problem-solving skills, and overall well-being, leading to personal and professional growth. Let’s set ourselves up for success.
It’s time for an accountability check-in. It’s been a week of progress. My thirty-day calendar is eighty percent ready for focus group review. I’m also really excited about the jacket. Here’s a picture.
I’m using the Affirmators! Tarot by Suzi Barrett this week since they are fun. We will also do a Past, Present, and Future spread instead of the usual four-question format. However, two cards jumped out for one question, so it will still be four cards. What happened last week? We begin with the Eight of Wands reversed. A unicorn has lassoed eight wands and is preparing to toss them into the great beyond. Last week felt very condensed since many projects were happening all at the same time. I had a strong desire to slow down, reflected by the card being reversed. Ironically, after celebrating how good I’ve been with boundaries, I’ve burned the candle at both ends most of last week. Was last week a whirlwind for you as well? What did you learn from it? How do you feel about it? If you had an uneventful week, please share with me so I may live vicariously through you. Granted, no one forced me to stay up late watching Chicago on Friday, so my takeaway is that choosing to have fun, though enjoyable, still has consequences for me since it disrupts my routine.
What is happening in the present? I got both the Two of Swords and the Four of Pentacles. I’ve struggled with finding balance and breaking my boundaries because I am afraid of missing opportunities. The Two of Swords shows an upright, contemplative crocodile with its tail wrapped around two swords. The Four of Pentacles shows a hippo hoarding four coins while birds groom its back. Most of my day off was spent reflecting on how happy I was being away from most social media, especially LinkedIn, and quitting my job is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about living without fear. The Hippo is stuck because it fears trying something new and losing what it has attained. While not in immediate danger, the crocodile can still get cut by the swords if it does not move carefully. I made the most progress on painting the jacket yesterday and today. I have weekends to pursue creative passions but accomplish more on my day off. Have you been going back and forth about making a decision? Is fear a factor for you?
What is something we can do in the week ahead? The Judgement card shows a little mouse on the top of a mountain greeting a benevolent sun. It could mean gaining perspective, but the mouse looks up at the sun. We are told not to fly too close to the sun, but the mouse seems on firm, though precarious ground. I feel that next week will continue to be a balancing act, but if I behave intentionally and stop weighing myself down with shame and my inner critic, I’ll be okay. What feels heavy to you at this moment? Can you envision a great week? What does it mean to you? Get as descriptive as possible and involve all your senses. My guiding principle next week will be joy. This doesn’t mean ignoring the hard things. I will focus on what I have to gain from that temporary discomfort. Maybe I’ll write a note to my future self and tuck it into my laptop to encourage her. The mouse is alone on the mountain, communing with the sun. Making time to recharge will be vital. I also interpret this card as a literal reminder to get more sun in the mornings to help my circadian rhythms. What about you? We don’t have to do all the things, but it is essential to prioritize joy and keeping your peace. Namaste.
