From Overwhelm to Action 05.10.26

The Two of Pentacles

Hi, friends 👋🏽. I’m Stacy Casson, Chief Play Officer at Things to Think About. As a mom of five who also held a full-time job, I used to hold a PhD in creating chaos. Now, I help other busy, overwhelmed parents have peaceful evenings and avoid dramatic mornings. I discovered that by applying organizational principles through play, I could reduce my mental load, stop nagging, and finally move from overwhelm to action. You set the tone for your kids, and I can help you set a calm one. Let’s get started.

Celebrate Your Wins

Pause for a moment:

What’s one thing you accomplished this week—big or small?

  • Did you let them figure it out?
  • Did you finally go for your annual physical?
  • Ate a home-cooked meal?

Drop your win in the comments or share it with a friend!

My wins: I kicked off my in-person Pop Up Parenting events in the park. I had some wonderful conversations with very supportive people. One of them told me that they had asked God for someone to listen to them two days prior, and here I was with a literal “free listening” sign. Reflecting on your wins helps to energize you when you are drained.

Every week, we explore a Tarot card because Tarot is rich in symbology and helps us to tap into our intuition. Reflecting on the card and noting what comes to mind is a metaphorical form of brainstorming that can provide insights when problem-solving.

Card of the Week: Two of Pentacles

Have you seen the movie “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” and thought that’s kind of how parenting feels? As parents, we are very familiar with juggling multiple roles, projects, and emotions. The card depicts a person juggling two pentacles surrounded by an infinity symbol. Behind him are very rocky seas with ships riding the waves. What I love about this card is that the person makes a game of it and remains focused and in flow.

The Pattern It Reveals

We are often the central nervous system of our families. Are you the one who manages all the scheduling and appointments? When there are delays, do you feel like you are playing mental Jenga, hoping that swapping appointments won’t bring the entire thing tumbling down? Notice how the juggler in the card is looking at one of the pentacles, and that both are wrapped in the infinity symbol. It’s a card about finding balance despite being tossed about by the waves. We often have to juggle many more balls. That there are only two in this picture makes me realize that what we are juggling are our internal needs vs external pressures.

The Question Worth Asking

What do our yeses tell us about our decision-making?

One Small Experiment to Try This Week

When you have to make a decision involving your family, ask yourself a simple question. If it’s a yes, is it because you wanted to do that or because you feared letting people down or not being liked?

Ready to move from overwhelm to action?

We need to be able to see all the balls we are juggling to understand which balls we can put down. You don’t have to figure it out alone. Book a Calm Down Session with me. In this session, you can allow yourself to replenish and resource yourself, so you are prepared for parenting and the work ahead. I will guide you through a brief meditation. From there, we can see how I can help you on your parenting journey. People showed an average drop of 3-4 points in their stress or overwhelm levels. My clients often say that my soothing voice helps them feel calm and restored. Let me help you put on your oxygen mask. For my subscribers, use the coupon code BREATHE2026 and get $10 off your session now through the end of May.
