From Overwhelm to Action

October 25th, 2025

Hi, friends! 👋🏽I’m Stacy Casson, and after more than twenty years in continuous improvement, I know a thing or two about feeling overwhelmed. If your calendar is packed, you’re double- or triple-booked, and you groan when your alarm goes off, you’re not alone. This blog is here to help us get ready for the week ahead—because, as Dan Martell says, “A problem well defined is a problem half-solved.”

Celebrate Your Wins

Before tackling overwhelm, pause to celebrate your wins. This week, I completed an Overcoming Overwhelm session, reorganized my pantry, walked six out of seven days, and spent quality time with my kids. Recognizing your wins reminds you of your personal power and helps you build momentum. What were your wins this week?

Inspiration from Tarot & The T-GROW Model

5 cards. 1. The Devil – a shirtless long-haired white man wearing jeans and boots, sits in a toilet stall smoking a cigarette and looking down at you. There are also shackles near his feet. 2. The Hermit – a man carrying a candle seems to be hiding underground. There is a statue of Cerebus, the three headed dog of the Underworld in the background. 3. The Aeon – a white bespectacled person wearing dark pants and a shirt with an Ouroboros , walks along the Ellis Island monument wall reading the names. Their reflection is an ancestor carrying their bags into a new life. 4. Futility (7 of Swords) – An upright sword surrounded by 6 other swords 5. Disappointment (5 of Cups) – a broken china hutch with a raw steak in the background.

This week, I’m combining the T-GROW coaching model with insights from The Urban Tarot by Robin Scott. T-GROW stands for Topic, Goal, Reality, Options, and Way Forward—a simple structure for problem-solving and planning. Here’s how it works:

1. Topic: What’s on your mind?

The Devil card appeared, representing personal addictions—maybe the snooze button, your phone, or avoidance. The first step is admitting your weakness. I have several personal projects I want to complete, but distraction keeps me from making the best use of my time. What opportunities are you missing because of overwhelm?

2. Goal: What do you want to achieve?

The Hermit card reminds us to seek alone time. I want to spend thirty minutes a day finishing my DIY course and thirty minutes reviewing a book draft. What could you achieve if you didn’t give in to temptation? Focus on the ONE thing that will make everything else easier or unnecessary.

3. Reality: What’s your current situation?

The Aeon card asks us to consider our legacy. My biggest obstacle is my dependence on my phone—it cuts my attention and slows my progress. Did you know it takes about thirty minutes to get back on track after an interruption? What is your reality, and what legacy will you leave behind next week?

4. Options: What could you do?

The Futility card showed up, and honestly, it made me want to avoid writing this blog! Distractions often come from external sources, but The Hermit reminds us to make alone time and “adult.” Sometimes, it feels futile to try and get ahead, but persistence pays off. My word is my most precious possession, so I’m giving my word to you: I’ll spend thirty minutes each day until the next blog working on my DIY course. What options do you have to make progress easier?

5. Way Forward: What’s your next step?

The Disappointment card isn’t encouraging at first glance, but disappointment is part of life. This week, focus on your relationship with yourself and your personal “devil.” No one is forcing you to pick up your phone. I’ll keep a tracker for my two goals and report back next week. I’ve blocked time on my calendar—are you ready to be a hermit and get things done?
